Giving to St. John's

Giving to St. John's

Giving is an important part of the life and worship of our church. Your generosity enables the ongoing ministry of St John’s and supports our work within the congregation, our local community and further afield.

Whether you have recently joined us, would like to begin giving regularly, or simply want to make a one-off contribution, there are several ways to give.

Give Regularly By Standing Order

The simplest way to give regularly is to set up a monthly standing order through your bank. If you use online banking, you can normally do this yourself; alternatively, your bank can arrange it for you.

Your giving can be directed to one or more of three funds:

Freewill Offering — supporting the general ministry and work of the congregation
Building & Repair Fund — caring for and maintaining our church buildings
Mission Fund — supporting mission beyond our congregation

If you would like your giving divided between these funds, please contact the Treasurer, Denis Guiler, at denisguiler@gmail.com.

Give During Sunday Worship

You are also very welcome to give as part of the offering during our Sunday services.

If you would like a set of Freewill Offering envelopes for regular giving, please speak to Marjorie Guiler after the service or contact her at Marjorieguiler@gmail.com or 07740 823756.

Make a One-Off Gift

One-off gifts can be made by bank transfer using the account details above.

Please include your name in the payment reference, together with the fund you would like your gift to support where appropriate.

Make Your Giving Go Further with Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid allows St John’s to claim an additional 25p from HMRC for every £1 you give — at no extra cost to you. So, for example, £20 given to the church can become £25.

All you need to do is complete a Gift Aid declaration. This can cover your regular giving as well as eligible donations you have made in the previous four years and those you make in the future.

You must have paid enough UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover the Gift Aid claimed on your donations. If your circumstances change and you no longer pay sufficient tax, please let us know.
