Please join us for refreshments after the service in the church halls.

We often end our opening prayer by saying the Lord’s Prayer together.

Please join us in whatever version or language is most familiar to you.

Our Father, who is in heaven,
hallowed be your name;
your kingdom come;
your will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen

MAKING COMFORTERS CONNECTS VOLUNTEERS

WITH EACH OTHER AND THE WORLD

Since the 1st World War, Mennonite Communities across the world have used the winter months to construct comforter blankets (quilts) which are donated to refugees and people in need around the world. This year, Sew Crafty at Newtownbreda Presbyterian have sewn 8 comforters – but they need your help to complete them! All you need to do is to tie knots to keep the 3 layers together.

When completed, our comforters will join with thousands of others to be sent to Ukraine and the Middle East – to bring comfort to people living with poverty and war.

            WHEN – Saturday 25th April, 12.00 noon – 4pm.

WHERE – Newtownbreda Presbyterian

 We would love to see you – drop in to tie a couple of knots or stay for the whole afternoon to enjoy the chat and hear everyone’s stories of how they learnt to sew.

We will welcome you with comforting soup and bread.

MESSY CHURCH is on next Sunday from 3.00-4.00pm. How can making slime teach us about self-control? Come along and find out 🙂 We’ll be thinking about the fruit of the Spirit and have some fun challenges and activities to explore gentleness and self-control.

MAY NEWSLETTER

If you would like to share any news, photographs or announcements with your church family in the May newsletter. could I please have them by Tuesday morning 28 April latest?

CHRISTIAN AID – AUCTION OF PROMISES on Friday15 May at 7.00 pm

We invite you to share your talents, skills or resources to support Christian Aid.  If you have a particular skill or asset that could benefit others, please consider offering your support. Some suggested ways you could help: gardening, babysitting, providing a casserole/meal, baking, providing transport, or taking someone on an outing.  If you are willing to offer your assistance in any of these areas, or have another idea to contribute, please speak to Jennifer Cairnduff, Helen Pallin or Noel Breen.

ANNUAL CHURCH FȆTE   Saturday 26 September 2026  SAVE THE DATE

Time to clear out, Spring clean and think about what you can donate to the fête. We are asking you to ‘clear out your clutter’ and donate preloved items to the church fête. The annual fête hosts stalls with lots of preloved items, books, ornaments, crystal, bric-a-brac goods, toys, games, jigsaws, jewellery, unopened cosmetics, seasonal decorations, indoor and outdoor furniture items and the list goes on and on. So please use this as an opportunity to declutter the house, the roof space, the garage and the garden shed.

If you have any items that you think would be suitable and need help in getting these to church, please let Heather or Ausin know. Alternatively, you can leave items on the stage in the St John’s Hall.

We are also hoping for a good team of volunteers to help with the many aspects of the day. Whether you can help donate goods, make jam or cakes, assist with set up, help on the day…. the opportunities are wide and varied.

Let your friends, family, neighbours and work colleagues know of the opportunity to donate goods and within reason, we can accept most items, even small items of furniture. We can’t accept electrical goods.

More information will be issued nearer the time but please put the date in your diary and it will be a great opportunity to meet up and spend time with friends.

Thank you, Heather & Austin

GARDENING and CARE of CHURCH GROUNDS

If you are prepared to help with keeping the Church grounds neat and tidy over the summer months by coming along for a couple of hours on 2 or 3 evenings between April and September (usually Mondays but depends on the weather), please speak to William Francey or contact him on 07577 605747.   We have a small team of loyal gardeners but additional volunteers are always welcomed. You don’t have to be Monty Don or have any special expertise – the ability to walk behind a lawnmower or pull some weeds is all that is required.

FOODBANK   Thank you to everyone who contributes to the food bank. The following will be needed over the next weeks: tea, coffee, biscuits, snack noodles, nappies, hygiene products and deodorants.

If you would like to have a notice included in the announcement sheet, please email NewtownbredaAnnouncements@outlook.com

Please try to send your announcements to us by the Thursday prior to the Sunday service.
