Announcements: 29th January 2012

 

We welcome all who are with us as visitors today.  Please join us for light refreshments and conversation in the Foyer after worship.

 

The Crèche for babies and toddlers is found in the Foyer of the St John’s Hall: access by the main Hall suite doors and walk through the St John’s Hall.

 

3.00pm in the manse.  New Communicants:  the series of six  informal meetings continues for young people to explore coming to communion.  During the month of February Mr Orr will also be happy to talk to any adult who would like to think about taking this step.  Please speak to him directly or contact him by ‘phone.

 

6.15pm  Musica Rehearsal  in the Megaw Room for evening service in the Foyer.            

 

7.00pm  Evening Worship:  led by Jane Nelson.

 

8.00pm  Focus  will be meeting to plan for the St John’s Got Stars in Your Eyes.

7.30pm  Homegroup  meets in Trevor and Helen Pallin’s home.

    

      

Wednesday 1st Feb       

10.30am - 12.30pm  Pins and Needles  in the Cairns Room.

Thursday 2nd Feb  

11.00am  Koinonia  ‘The Religious Society of Friends’ speaker Miss Rosemary Calvert OBE.  Coffee and tea will be served from 10.30am - 10.50am.

          

          

No  Spark or Connect because of a rehearsal for St John’s Got Stars in Your Eyes.

          

Saturday 4th Feb 

7.30pm  St John’s Got Stars in Your Eyes.  Admission is £5 for adults and £3 for children to be paid on the night.  All funds raised will go to towards the Halls Building Fund and Stand By Me, the Focus project for 2011/2012.  It would be great to have as many as possible attending to support our acts.

 


 

General

 

The Church AGM will take place on Friday 24th February - please put the date in your diary.  In common with previous years we will begin with a meal.  If anyone would be willing to help with the catering or to host a table, would they please speak to Marjorie Guiler or Clare Pollock in the Foyer after the service.

 

 

Christmas World Development Appeal:  please read the information in the leaflet which comes

with your Chronicle magazine, and return the enclosed envelope filled as generously as you feel able

to.  The envelopes should be placed in the offering plates on any Sunday until the end of January.

 

St John’s Got Stars in Your Eyes:  if anyone could help Jane with the tea and coffee at the interval of this event,  please speak to her asap.

 

Congratulations to Kathryn Brown, Fiona Agnew and Andrew Bell, all of whom have been given places on the Ulster Project for this July.

 

Sunday 29th Jan

  

World Leprosy Day (see notice board).  Thanks to everyone who contributed so generously to the Leprosy Mission.  The total amount received from boxes and donations this year was £840.00.  Your money can make such a difference to those suffering from this disease.  Please continue to take the little blue boxes in the porches.  All small change gratefully received.

 

Saturday 11th Feb

7.45pm  Voices Together - Songs from Round the World in the St John’s Hall.  A concert, with refreshments, in aid of H2O orphanage in Thailand which was visited and is supported by Jacynth.  Admission by donation.

 

Sunday 12th Feb  

League of  Church Loyalty prizes will be distributed at Morning Worship.

 

Monday 13th Feb   

7.30pm  PW  ‘Good Feet’  speakers Greg & Esther Gillanders.

 

Wednesday 15th Feb      

Habitat for Humanity One Day Build: Focus have been offered the opportunity to take part in a one day site build in Habitat’s building site in Templemore Avenue.  The time will be mid morning to afternoon; if anyone from the congregation would like to join Focus on this day please email or speak to Pete asap.

 

Saturday 18th Feb

Choral Singing for Easter at Drumalis, Larne.  This is directed by Loreto McAulay and  David Stewart.  It is a day when individuals and members of choirs get together to learn a variety of new pieces for Lent and Easter and sing them together in a para-liturgy at the end of the day.  Cost, including music and lunch, is £30.  Tel. 028 2827 2196 or 028 2827 6455,  email: drumalis@btconnect.com.

 

Holiday French for beginners.  An 8 week course in St Joseph’s Parish Centre.  See Foyer notice board for details.
