Over four days in July 2008 a team of voluteers from "Ormeau Churches Together"* united to reach out to the local community in a project called GLU (God Loves You). They engaged in random acts of kidness for the commuity by completing a wide variety of tasks from street litter collection through to graffiti removal, culminating in a community fun day at a local park.

Fancy taking part in 2009. Read on to hear what Jimbo has to say:
'Preach the gospel, and if necessary use words’. St. Francis
GLU 2008 was a big project…
We weeded a lot of gardens, painted quite a few fences and washed a pile of cars. But something more important happened. We blessed people. We shared the message of Gods love, and we didn’t even have to say a word!.
Care to join us in 2009?
This summer all over Ballynafeigh we want to make a BIG impact in Jesus name. There are so many in our community crying out for help and this summer the church is going to be there for them! Jesus told us that whatever we do for others, we do for him. GLU seeks to serve the people of Ballynafeigh with this attitude – whatever we do, we do for Jesus
This project is for people of all ages, we need all sorts of talents and abilities. Last year our volunteers ranged from 8 to 80 and we’re happy to have you even if you fall outside that bracket! Men and Women from all different backgrounds found out how much you get back when you put a little in. This is your opportunity to shape your own way of showing Gods love!
Cost?
We are asking for a personal contribution of £25 per person or £50 per family.
This sum covers costs such as: Insurance, Equipment, GLU Shirt for all participants (please indicate size(s) required below) as well as lunch and dinner for the four days
To be a part of this amazing project and to help us spread Gods love to the people of Ballynafeigh drop an email to JiMbO at youthdirector@newtownbreda.org.
We really do need people of all ages for this project, but if you are under 16 you need to have a parent of guardian sign up with you and be with you at all times.
